8/24 - Results are in. - Fusarium oxysporum and phthium ultimum.

8/3 - Lab asked for root samples, said probably like fuserium, but blocks the vascular system. Now even the old leaves are turning yellow and brown.

7/26 - obvious now, all the new tips are stunted, not growing - must have been the isotox, although it didn't affect the other plant. Soil test show deficencies in nitrogen, calcium and manganese.

7/23 - 20 days old - only 43 inches - plant looks healthy, pumpkin looks healthy - but soil moisture shows the plant is not taking up moisture like it should and the pumpkin hasn't grown - don't know why. there is tip curl after isotox, there is some new growth, but not what I expect.

7/20 - Took soil, tissue and cull pumpkin samples for Western Lab study.

7/18 - 15 days old - 41 inches - sprayed Isotox early (6am) before bees were out, then fertilized with fish emulsion, seaweed, actinovate, rootshield. Last night spread sand under pumpkin, it has nice long stem growing perpendicular to main vine, couldn't ask for better positioning.

7/15 - measured first pumpkin - 12 days old 30x22x22=74OTT

7/12 - 3rd female blossom pollinated - 15'out - crossed with #3 - nice 5 lobe. 3 primary secondarys are terminated. Turned on the sprinklers that spray from the opposite side. Fertilized with hose end sprayer - Fish Emulsion(1 cup), Seaweed(2 tablespoons), Actinovate(1 teaspoon), Rootshield(1 teaspoon), VAM(1 teaspoon), Liquid Mollasis(1/2 cup), then ran sprinklers for for 60 min.

7/9 - sprayed liquid Ortho Seven early (6:00am). Saw some slight leaf burn/curl on new growth from Ortho treatment.

7/8 - 2nd female blossom pollinated - 13'out - crossed with #3 - nice 5 lobe - some microscopic bugs on male flowers - time to spray.

7/3 - 1st female pollinated - 11' on main vine - crossed with #3 - nice 5 lobes - plant has 14' main vine, 12' side vines, 1st 2 sets of side vines are terminated. Watering 45 min. early every 2nd or 3rd day, and 2 minutes x 4 times during heat of day. Haven't fertilized since 6/14, but burying all vines with a pinch of Symbiosis/Actinovate/VAM/Plantshield at each leaf node. Plants all green, no yellow leaves. Also capped 2 sprinkler heads to even out water between #2 and #3.

6/14 - Greenhouses off - pulled out heat cable - has been very wet and cool, some yellow leaves - but turned hot last couple of days. Main Vine 6-7 feet long.

5/31 - Installed moisture and temperature probs at 9-12" depth. (see Soil Stats for current and last 7 day readings)

5/15 - Transplaned to Garden, under 6'x8' hoop greenhouses. Watering weekly with mild seaweed mix. Each hole also had Extra Actinovate+Iron, Mychorizea and VAM.

5/10 - First true leaf emerges.

5/6 - Potted.

5/4 - sprouted. (late, slow)

5/2 - Added 15lbs Mychorizea (symbiosis), 5lbs Actinovate w/ Iron, 1lb RootShield, 4oz Actinovate AG, 4oz VAM soil activator.

4/24 - soaked seed overnight

4/13-4/19 - Based on Soil Tests added all kinds of things, 7.5lbs Elemental Sulfur, 55lbs Iron+, 16lbs Epsom Salt, 25lbs Dry Molasses, 1 Gallon Wet Molasses, 4.5lbs 16-20-0, 4lbs Plant Food Iron, 2lbs 46-0-0, 2.25oz Zinc, 3.375oz, Plant Food Iron (liquid), 1oz Manganese, .6oz Copper, 1oz, Boric Acid, 1/2 bag GrubXmerit, 1/2 bag Soil Activator. Sprayed 8oz of Banroot on lower 1/2 only (none on plant 1, 1/2 of plant 2, all of plant 3) Tilled heavy and deep. Also took down chicken coop to make more space for pumpkins.

4/1 - Soil tests back from Western Labs (www.westernlaboratories.com) - Lots of work to do.

Prior Fall - Tilled in aprox 6" of horse manure with 25lbs nitrogen.

Langvane Seed Stock 5
1502 Wallace x 1450 Wallace

8/5 - 30 days old - 58" - Bad News - it's going soft and shrank. My giant pumpkin growing this year is over. I'll send in more samples to the lab, figure out what to do next year, but this year is a bust!

7/31 - 25 days old - 59" - not on pace to break to 1,000 lbs, but should exceed last years. This plant shows no sign of the problems of the other. Vine tips growing strong.

7/26 - 20 days old - 55" - plant still growing strong. Fertilized with ussual mix plus Calcium and nitrogen. Plant test show deficencies. Big wind storm - 40+mph winds, disturbed leaves, but no severe damage.

7/21 - 15 days old - 39" it's taking off.

7/18 - 12 days old - 25" - behind other plant - fertilized and isotox'ed same as the other.

7/12 - 2nd female blossom ready - again deformed lobe - I removed this one. 3 primary secondary's terminated. Fertilized and water same as above.

7/9 - sprayed liquid Ortho Seven early.

7/6 - 1st female pollinated - 11' on main vine - crossed with #3 - 5 lobes but one protrudes up - plant has 14' main vine, 12' side vines, 1st 2 sets of side vines are terminated. Watering 45 min. early every 2nd or 3rd day, and 2 minutes x 4 times during heat of day. Haven't fertilized since 6/14, but burying all vines with a pinch of Symbiosis/Actinovate/VAM/Plantshield at each leaf node. Plant all green, no yellow leaves. A few ants, have not attempted to control them.

7/3 - Capped 2 sprinkler heads to even out water between #2 and #3 and greatly reduce water to #1 - Moisture probs showed #3 not getting saturated as well as #2.

6/14 - Greenhouses off - pulled out heat cable - has been very wet and cool, some yellow leaves - but turned hot last couple of days. Main Vine 6-7 feet long.

6/10 - Installed moisture and temperature probs at 9-12" depth. (see Soil Stats for current and last 7 day readings)

5/15 - Transplaned to Garden, under 6'x8' hoop greenhouses.

5/10 - First True Leaf emerges

5/6 - Potted

5/4 - sprouted. (late, slow)

4/24 - soaked seed overnight

Note: soil amendments and care the same as #2.

Soil Moisture range 0-200, 0-10=saturated, 10-20= Adequate, 30-60=Time to irrigate normal crops, 60-200 dry. Probes: Pumpkin probes are 9-12 inches deep. Note:Pumpkins had heat cable in the soil and were in mini-greenhouses until June 15th - this prevented night time soil temps from going low.
